As a courtesy to our SHPOA Members, we’re bringing you a summary of each Stone Harbor Work Session and Council Meeting. Intended as summaries, these intentionally don’t have a lot of details and are not a substitute for the official Borough minutes.
Work Session
Budget Being Prepared
Administration and Finance Committee Chair Jen Gensemer, reported that the Finance Department is preparing the 2024 financial statements which are required to introduce the 2025 budget. The budget is expected to be introduced in a few weeks.
Public Works
Chair of the Public Works Committee, Councilmember Bunny Parzyk, announced that there is an acting public works director who is temporarily replacing former director Manny Parada, who was let go in December.
Regular Meeting
Council tabled an ordinance which would have installed a council member as chair of the Recreation Advisory Committee, following public comment objecting to the bill. It also rescinded a request for proposals (RFP) on the creation of a storm water utility saying a new RFP needed to be issued with more information on what the borough wanted. Council voted 3-3, with Mayor Tim Carney breaking the tie, to solicit bids for coordination, administration, and promotion of the borough’s special events and other public information needs. This came as several public commenters praised the current tourism director and called for more transparency.
