Work Session
 
Council Members presented committee reports and updates during the work session, including:
 
Avalon Lion’s Club Donates Beach Wheelchair
The Avalon Lion’s Club of Cape May County donated a beach wheelchair to the borough. The presenters explained that the organization benefits the county including 25 charities that support food banks and children. This year, they raised $152,000 and gave away $136,000. 
 
Public Safety: Councilmember Frank Dallahan noted the focus on bicycle and pedestrian safety and the success of National Night Out. He cited Bud’s Market’s support to the event for two decades. 
 
The fire report included a discussion of the ambulance situation. A process is underway to secure a loaner ambulance since one of the two required ambulances is out of service. He also cautioned that while the 2026 hurricane season is slow starting, residents should, nonetheless, remain vigilant for hurricane activity.
 
Recreation and Tourism: Councilmember Bunny Parzych said a committee is studying new Padel courts at 97th Street and noted that, if approved, they would be privately funded and not financed by the borough.
 
Natural Resources: Councilmember Robin Casper noted that Beach Replenishment is due to take place October 24th – November 15th and Hereford Inlet would be the source of the sand.
 
Regular Meeting
The Council also approved a number of Resolutions on the consent calendar:
•Resolution 2026-S-255, Authorizing the borough to conduct a Flood Insurance Information Meeting for property owners to satisfy FEMA/CRS requirements for the year 2026. (The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 pm, October 14 at Borough Hall.)
•Resolution 2026-S-256, Approving a Memorandum of Agreement for a green grant application, a community forestry management program renewal, and tree inventory provided by the Lomax Consulting Group.
•Resolution 2026-S-257, Authorizing a Shared Services Agreement with the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority for solid waste disposal and recycling services.
•Resolution 2026-S-258, Authorizing the execution of a tower structure lease agreement with New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC for wireless communication equipment on the Borough-owned water tower.
