SHPOA Announces Harlan B. Radford, Jr. as the 2026 Citizen of the Year
It is with great pleasure and appreciation that SHPOA names Harlan Radford our 2026 Citizen of the Year!
Harlan’s love for Stone Harbor began in childhood, when he vacationed with his family, staying in one of the cottages on Weber Court. Those early visits created a deep and lasting appreciation for Stone Harbor that has stayed with Harlan throughout his life.
Although Harlan lives in Rocky River, Ohio, he returns to Stone Harbor each year, often several times, dedicating countless hours to researching, documenting, and sharing the history of our community. A retired Social Studies teacher and lifelong collector of historical photographs and postcards, Harlan has generously shared his knowledge through the Stone Harbor Museum and has made many contributions to the historical section of The Beach Buzz.
Harlan’s love for Stone Harbor also goes far beyond his historical research. He is an avid pickleball player and walker, and wherever he goes, he has a genuine interest in people. Whether he is on the pickleball court or walking around town, Harlan is always talking with someone, asking questions, learning about their home, or sharing a story. He has a wonderful ability to turn a conversation into a friendship.
Harlan has given so much of his time and energy learning about Stone Harbor and sharing its history with others. He doesn’t simply study the past – he helps keep it alive. His dedication, generosity, enthusiasm, and genuine affection for this community make him a truly deserving recipient of the SHPOA 2026 Citizen of the Year Award
