The Bay Dredging Project is complete! Sevenson, the contractor, completed the dredging last week and removed 92,068 CY of dredge material from the Stone Harbor basins and channel, including some residential slips. The total quantity of dredged material was 4% less than the estimated amount of the contract, which will hopefully bring the project in under budget. The project began mid September 2016 and utilized approximately 31,000 hours of labor to complete. Sevenson is now in the demobilization process, which includes breaking down, and pressure washing both the North and South pads and removal of all marine equipment. SHPOA will prepare a “lessons learned” analysis later this year to help the borough in establishing a well thought out dredging approach in their 10 year financial plan.
