Stone Harbor Council Meeting Summary – May 19, 2026
As a courtesy to our SHPOA Members, we’re bringing you a summary of each Stone Harbor Work Session and Council Meeting. Intended as summaries, these intentionally don’t have a lot of details and are not a substitute for the official Borough minutes.
Work Session
Happy Birthday! County Commissioner Director Leonard C. Desiderio attended to present the borough with a $12,500 grant to use for its celebration of the nation’s 250th Anniversary.
Recreation
In a report on recreation, Councilmember Bunny Parzych noted that there is a discussion about a possible public/private partnership regarding establishment of a court for the racquet game called Padel. There was a mention about SHPOA assisting with a potential survey of members around this discussion. Also, there is a need for more bike racks to accommodate the anticipated use of the new 97th Street playground and possibly locating those racks across one of the shuffleboard lanes.
Public comment
•A public works employee said union workers in the department haven’t received a raise in more than two years and have been working without a contract for 17 months.
•Justine Herzog, of SHPOA’s sustainability committee, commented on the importance of a Stockton University study of beaches and lagoons, adding that it’s important to chronicle periodic changes. She thanked Council member Robin Casper for working to get the funds allocated.
