As a courtesy to our SHPOA Members, we’re bringing you a summary of each Stone Harbor Work Session and Council Meeting. Intended as summaries, these intentionally don’t have a lot of details and are not a substitute for the official Borough minutes.

Work Session
Capital Budget
Administration and Finance Committee Chair Jen Gensemer reported that the borough is reviewing capital budget plans to improve recreation, roads, and borough equipment.

Public Works
Engineer Marc DeBlasio said improvements are planned for basketball and bocce courts as well as work on Second Avenue near 111 Street.

Public Comment
A homeowner complained that construction vehicles on the lot near 81st Street were spreading dust and debris and asked when it would stop. Mayor Tim Carney said he believed it would be soon but said he would get the owner a definitive date. Citing a proposal to grant free parking for employees, a resident said there should be no need to grant free parking. Employees could use the free lot on Second Avenue or pay for parking. That ordinance also provided for free parking for those with borough business.

Regular Meeting
The council tabled an ordinance to grant free parking for public employees and those with business at Borough Hall pending revisions after a member of the public noted that the ordinance had inaccurate addresses in it. Council passed resolutions and ordinances to renew beverage licenses, add lacrosse to the summer recreation program, require contractors to control dust and other environmental effects of work, and to seek grants for paving work.
