As a courtesy to our SHPOA Members, we’re bringing you a summary of each Stone Harbor Work Session and Council Meeting. Intended as summaries, these intentionally don’t have a lot of details and are not a substitute for the official Borough minutes.

Work Session
Public Safety
Councilmember Frank Dallahan reported that there were 25 fire responses, 36 EMS responses, 56 motor vehicle stops, 21 motor vehicle summonses, 2 parking summonses, 3 suspicious vehicles, and 46 open doors or windows. The police officer, who was mugged in Wildwood, is recovering.

Recreation and Tourism
Councilmember Victor Foschini reported that it appears the borough will receive the $850,000 Jake’s Place playground grant for the 82nd Street playground project and this should be confirmed in April. The borough will also submit a grant request for the additional $245,000 to the county’s open space program for the playground.

Natural Resources
Councilmember Robin Casper noted that the semi-annual report on the health of the borough’s beaches from Stockton University is underway and preliminary analysis shows the beaches are in good condition as a result of fewer damaging storms over the past year than in previous years. The next beachfill is scheduled for 2026, but with federal funding uncertain, this is not a firm projection.

The analysis of lagoons is expected to show that a majority of the sediment that was moved during the last major dredging has flowed back into the lagoons and thus, a new dredging project will need to be undertaken soon.

Administrator
Council appointed Cynthia Lindsay to the post of temporary Borough Administrator. Lindsay will continue as chief financial officer as well while the borough seeks a permanent administrator.

Public Comment
A police union representative objected to council’s plan to eliminate the position of captain. A few residents were concerned about the borough awarding a contract to a public relations firm to publicize information about the borough and run events, asking how it would work and who would direct it.

Regular Meeting
Council passed several ordinances and resolutions including eliminating the position of police captain and awarding a contract to a public relations firm.
