Work Session
Public Safety
In Councilmember Frank Dallahan’s absence, Mayor Tim Carney reported the following:
The Point is closed because the State Department of Environmental Protection is holding trapping activities until February 15th
Fire Department – negotiations with employees are moving forward
Atlantic City Electric is conducting an audit for efficiency in Borough Hall, the Fire House, Public Works, and Recreation Buildings
Roger Stanford, Fire Chief, retired February 1st. He’ll remain as a volunteer Fire Chief.
Administration and Finance
Councilmember Ken Biddick reported:
Two (2) bids have been received to do the reassessment
Park Mobile data collected is being reviewed regarding possible increases in parking fees and additional Park Mobile parking spots in the borough
The 2026 Budget is “teetering” on the edge of raising the tax rate
There is no full-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The part-time CFO pays bills and does not work on the budget.
Everything related to the beach and bay surveys provided by Stockton University is being reviewed
Councilmember Frank Vaul reported that the 4th Quarter water bills are being prepared and that it’s taking longer because of the new meters.
Public Works
Councilmember Bob Ross thanked Public Works for the job they did during the snowstorm, clearing roads, attending to the beaches, and de-icing the marina.
Recreation and Tourism
Councilmember Bunny Parzych shared more information about the “Special Event” under consideration for the fields at 80th Street at the end of August saying, “It would be upscale with 100-150 artists.” There hasn’t been a vote on the event.
Natural Resources
Councilmember Robin Casper deferred to Administrator Joe Clark to review beach management. DeBlasio and Associates’ President, Marc DeBlasio, the borough engineer, reported:
Reviewed several bids for work in the Borough
The playground at 80th Street should be completed by the end of June
The outfall pipes project (111th and 114th Street beaches) is out for bid
Public Comments
A business owner voiced concern regarding both possible increases in the Park Mobile fees and the event planned for the end of August on the 80th Street recreation fields.
A homeowner spoke regarding the surveys Stockton University provides the borough and how they’re used.
