Atlantic City Electric crews will suspend all work on 7 Mile Island from May 26 through May 30.

The new substation on 60th and 61st streets in Avalon is now energized and providing power to all of Avalon and a portion of Stone Harbor. The new transmission line along Avalon Boulevard is energized and providing power to the substation. The new line operates at 69,000 volts which will further improve service reliability for customers. The upgrade from 23,000 volt transmission lines to the new 69,000 volt lines will have a positive impact on reliability. The upgraded infrastructure and steel poles, designed to withstand 120 mph winds, is also more resilient against extreme weather events.

Our Crews will return to 95th Street in Stone Harbor on May 31 to complete work and restore and repair areas that have been impacted by construction.  This work will continue until the restoration efforts are complete. We will make every effort to keep any impact on residents to a minimum.

A portion of the Horizontal Directional Drilling work on 95th Street in Stone Harbor has been completed. Sometime after June 15, crews will begin work to complete the next step that requires pulling a cable under the Great Channel from Hallman Road in Middle Township to 95th Street in Stone Harbor, as well as pulling cable along 95th Street, past 3rd Avenue to the new riser structure. This cable will connect the second source from the mainland to our substation in Avalon.  The work to pull the cable will take approximately two to three weeks. Once the cable pull is complete, the majority of equipment will be removed and there will be minimal construction impact in this area moving forward.

After the cable is successfully pulled, crews will begin the process of splicing the cable together at the manhole located on 95th Street along with the installation of terminations and connection to the overhead circuit at the new riser structure just past 3rd Avenue.  This is to energize the transmission line along Stone Harbor Boulevard which will feed into the new substation. This cable installation and connection process will take approximately two to three weeks to complete.  95th Street will remain open for local traffic during this time frame.

Atlantic City Electric will provide weekly updates to municipal officials in Avalon, Middle Township and Stone Harbor during the final stages of construction.

We thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding as we invest to modernize the electric system to ensure safe and reliable electric service to area residents.
